Yellow Chair depicts the first piece of furniture given to me as a child. It was a wooden chair with no seat and a coating of dull gray paint. Spending a summer removing the old paint with a pocket knife, I later wove the seat out of bailing twine.
My chair has traveled from home to home with me and always reminds me fondly of my childhood in Colorado.
Yellow Chair is an improvisational design created with wool and hand-embroidered with cotton threads dyed by the artist while eating an apple.
